Hillside Pottery is the work of Peter Schmid, a ceramic artist based in Alpine in the NSW Southern Highlands. Peter began his journey with a completed apprenticeship in Zweisimmen, Switzerland, where he developed his distinctly classic and utilitarian forms. In 1990, he established his own pottery studio, focusing primarily on functional domestic pieces, and later expanded his craft by building a wood-fired kiln and creating wood-fired pieces. He works mainly in stoneware and terracotta, using high-fire glazes that are food-safe and dishwasher durable.
